Well done Rush Athletics! Now that our high school kids have had a chance to drop that quarantine mind-set and start to get their bodies back into shape for competing, they are showing Covid-19 that its hold has no power over their performance anymore. Our high school athletes took the track not knowing what their results would look like since many of them have not completed since February (about 4 months ago). Now there is hope this summer to get times posted for their missed season, hope for those who have rebound from injuries, and hope for marks to show prospective college recruiters. Today, our Rush athletes made a statement that will go down in the history book.

Lots of personal records set despite not being able to train and compete for their high school. For those who did not set new personal records, the realization of just how badly their bodies have been affected by spending four months at home due to the shelter-in-place. Even those who tried to continue training saw that they were not where they were last year at this time, but that is expected when athletes haven’t had any competitions in nearly four month. Today, we needed to see where they are so they know how to train moving forward.

In the words of Steve Prefontaine , “a lot of people run a race to see who’s the fastest. I run to see who has the most guts.” Our high school athletes showed us they have the guts to get out and run-jump-throw in this unprecedented time!

We, coaches at Rush Athletics USA, are extremely proud of our high school athletes and look forward to more successful stories to share this summer.
